Best Indoor and Outdoor Winter Activities in Winnipeg

From winter festivals like Festival Du Voyageur, to outdoor adventures like snowshoeing, to indoor activities like minigolf, there are still tons of things to do in Winnipeg in the winter.

It may be getting colder outside, but Rumor’s Comedy Club has some hot tips for a sizzling winter. So, strap on your snowshoes, and grab a hot chocolate because these are the best Winnipeg winter activities.

Outdoor winter activities in Winnipeg

Yes, it can get a little chilly in Winterpeg, but that means our city has some unique winter activities that warmer places simply don’t have. You just need to wear some long underwear and maybe an extra pair of socks to enjoy these Winnipeg winter pastimes.

Snow maze

Every January the corn maze at A Maze In Corn in St. Adolphe, MB converts into a winter wonderland with a huge snow maze. It’s a fun family activity for the Winnipeg winter, and you can get warm beverages and food when you’re done navigating the maze. Adults can saunter over to the snow bar for adult beverages, too.

The maze itself is, well… amazing. There are several snow sculptures and carved snow caves along your route, so there’s tons of places to get a great selfie.

Explore the great outdoors

Strap on some snowshoes or cross country skis and explore the beautiful surroundings of the prairie winter landscape. You can rent snowshoes at Fort Whyte Alive, the Living Prairie Museum, and Oak Hammock Marsh, all of which offer incredible trails for your winter adventure.

If you’re a novice, you can take advantage of the mobile ski library put on by a local group called Winterpeg. The ski library allows people of all ages and all skill levels to try out cross country skis and snowshoes for free. Just look for the mobile ski library schedule on the Winterpeg website.

Hit the slopes

Winnipeg is located smack-dab in the middle of the Canadian Prairies, so downhill skiing might not even cross your mind as one of the things to do in Winnipeg in winter. But, we’ve got that, too! Grab your skis or snowboard and head over to Springhill Winter Sports Park and carve to your heart's content. There’s a mogul run and table top ramps for the daredevils in your group, as well as a bunny slope for novices. And if you’re not into skiing or snowboarding, you can always rent a snow tube.
