Winnipeg date night ideas

It’s tough to come up with a unique date night idea. Dinner and a movie is played out, and Netflix and chill is sus. So, we’ve come up with this list of unique date ideas to impress your crush.

Manitoba Museum and Planetarium

Taking a trip to the Manitoba Museum is a great first date idea. With nine galleries that explore human history and our relationship with our planet, there’s no end to the conversation starters. Add that to the fact that there’s a good chance that you both visited the Museum with school as a kid, and there’s tons to talk about, like how the iconic buffalo hunt display made you feel when you were younger, or whether the massive replica dinosaur skeletons scared the crap out of you.

You can also peel off to the Planetarium where you can take a quick space vacation through our solar system.

Catch a Comedy Show

Everybody loves to laugh, so why not lean into it by taking your date to a stand-up comedy show at Rumor’s Comedy Club.

Rumor's is the best comedy club in Winnipeg

And you can take advantage of our Thursday night Date Night package, which includes two tickets to the show, a bottle of wine, and an appetizer for just $69 including tip.

Tour a brewery

Ever wonder how Winnipeg’s craft brewers make your favorite local brew? You can learn how they do it by taking a brewery tour. Many of our local beer makers offer tours of their facilities, like the Half Pints Brewing Co. on Roseberry St, and they usually end with a chance to sample some of the products you just learned about.

Tour the Mint

One of the most unique buildings in Winnipeg is the Royal Canadian Mint. That’s where Canada’s coins are made for regular circulation. The Mint also produces coins for other countries, and they offer tours from Tuesday to Saturday between 9:15 AM and 4:00 PM. It’s perfect for that getting-to-know-you afternoon stroll type date. And you’ll have the chance to buy your sweetheart a collectible coin to remember you by at the gift shop.

The Forks

No matter what time of year, or what you’re in the mood for, The Forks is always a great choice for a date. With walking trails, patios, restaurants, clothing and gift shops, you can easily keep things interesting and the conversation flowing. In the winter time you can grab a hot chocolate and skate down the Nestaweya River Trail. In the summer you can sign up for a boat tour of Winnipeg’s historic waterways. Or, if you want to move your relationship forward faster, why not rent an electric scooter and let the electricity between the two of you heat up.

Is your bae more artsy-fartsy? Why not impress them with a stroll through the Winnipeg Art Gallery-Qaumajuq. The 111 year old institution is home to the world’s largest collection of inuit art, and has featured traveling installations from world-renown artists like Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Andy Worhol, Rodin, and more. Afterward, you can drop by the Katita Cafe to discuss all the interesting artworks you learned about from Wikipedia beforehand to make yourself seem more cultured than you really are.
