More Comedians Coming to Winnipeg in 2023

Michael Ian Black, Ariel Elias, and Sugar Sammy top the list of comedians coming to Winnipeg this year at Rumor’s. But that’s not all.

There are tons of great comedians coming to Rumor’s Comedy Club this year. Here’s our list of the top acts gracing our stage in the third quarter of 2023.

July

July is hot and it’s only getting hotter at Rumor’s with these sizzlingly hilarious comics.

Jordan Rock

Nearly 20 years younger than brother of Chris Rock, Jordan Rock has forged his own path and established his own unique comedic voice, lamenting the challenges of being a young black man in modern times. Rock’s natural comfort in the spotlight has earned him spots on Last Comic Standing, Judd Apatow’s Netflix series Love, and a role as Nate Bargetze’s best bud in  Nate Bargetze’s untitled sit-com pilot.

Nate Craig

If a scotch on the rocks could come to life, it would be just like Nate Craig. Confident, suave, ascerbic, and unapologetic, Nate’s act is reminiscent of the early days of stand-up, when comics would tell it like it is in dingey basements filled with smoke. Of course, Rumor’s is a non-smoking environment, but you get the gist.

You’ll probably recognize Nate Craig from his appearances on Netflix’s Maniac, starring Jonah Hill, or the hit Bill Burr cartoon F is for Family.

August

The good times keep rollin’ this summer. Here are a few of the comedians coming to Winnipeg in August.

David Nihil

Hailing from Ireland, David Nihil is a citizen of the world. Well travelled and observant, David cuts through the nonsense of todays politically charged times with an honesty and  that forces us all to stop taking ourselves so seriously.

Dave is the 2018 winner of the legendary San Francisco Comedy Competition, and in 2019, he dropped his debut Dry Bar special, Documented. You can find his latest special Cultural Appreciation streaming now on YouTube, or you can catch Dave Nihil live at Rumor’s comedy club this August.

September

September is fall time—as in “fall on the ground laughing”. Check out these talented comics coming to Winnipeg in September.

Preacher Lawson

Animated and irritated, Preacher Lawson throws down a high-energy brand of stand-up comedy that will leave you gasping for air. Self-depricating and sarcastic, Lawson’s storytelling abilities connect with audiences at the deepest level, revealing a loveable man hiding behind a furrowed brow. Preacher is a past winner of the prestigious Seattle International Comedy Competition, and was a finalist on season 12 of America’s Got Talent.

Ariel Elias

Whether as a comedian or as a Jewish woman growing up in rural Kentucky, Ariel Elias has always been a stand-out. Elias was featured on the New Faces of Comedy show at the 2021 Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, and she made her television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live last October. Since then, she’s been on the road bringing her unique life story to comedy clubs across North America, including Rumor’s Comedy Club this September.

October

In October we give thanks for these unbelievable acts coming to Rumor’s comedy club.

Sugar Sammy

Rumor’s Comedy Club regular and crowd favorite, Sugar Sammy, brings his bilingual stand-up comedy show to Winnipeg in October. Sugar Sammy has been waiting a long time to offend Winnipeggers in both official languages, so if you can take it, he can hand it out in droves.

You must be able to understand BOTH French and English for this one-off show, so you better sign up for some language classes because you don’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind comedy experience.

Michael Ian Black

Michael Ian Black will do anything for a joke, even if it makes him look like a complete jerk to a whole airplane full of people. The Chicago-born comedian is perhaps best known for his role in the Wet Hot American Summer franchise. Black has released three stand-up comedy albums, and is also a prolific children’s author publishing nine childrens titles including Naked!, A Pig Parade, and Cock-a-Doodle Doo-Bop.

You can catch Michael Ian Black in Winnipeg at Rumor’s Comedy Club in from October 19–21.
