Rumor’s Comedy Club is celebrating 40 years of laughs this year, and we’ve got a lot of great stuff planned.

But, we’ve outdone ourselves for our 40th anniversary year, so we’ve compiled this article to show you the five shows you should not pass on.
Winnipeg’s Funniest Person with a Day Job Finals
Here at Rumor’s we pride ourselves on being a place for new talent to strive for. So every year we hold the Winnipeg’s Funniest Person with a Day Job contest to help foster that talent a little.
The annual joke-off is many Winnipeg comedians’ first experience in front of a comedy club audience, and many past winners have gone on to do great things, like Spencer Adamus (Just for Laughs), Aisha Alfa (Based on a True Story), and Emmanuel Lomuro (Comedy Records).
This year’s finals is on Thursday, September 5th, and it’s shaping up to be a doozy. Get your tickets now to see the who’s who of who’s next in Winnipeg comedy.
Jay Pharoah
Saturday Night Live alumnus, Jay Pharoah hits the Rumor’s stage September 6th and 7th. Back by popular demand, the master impressionist’s show is not to be missed. His animated style accentuates his semi-prescient/semi-petty social commentary. If you haven’t seen Jay live, it’s a real treat. Only a few tickets remain, so get yours while you can!
Rumor’s 40th Anniversary Show
We’re cramming 40 years of comedy history into four shows of absolute comedy mayhem. To help us celebrate our ruby anniversary we’re bringing in some of our most popular acts from the past four decades, including Rob Pue, Dave Hemstad, Kevin Bozeman, Kelly Taylor, and Mark Forward.

Derrick Stroup
A lot of Winnipeggers got their first look at Derrick Stroup when he opened for Nate Bargatze at the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival in Winnipeg this past July. We’ve had tons of people asking “when can we see Derrick Stroup in Winnipeg again?”
The answer is October 8th – 12th right here at Rumor’s.
We were so charmed by Derrick’s southern fish-out-of-water sensibility that we had to bring him in for a longer headlining set. Get your tickets here.
Nathan Macintosh
Nathan Macintosh’s outrage knows no bounds. That’s probably why the Halifax native has had to focus his disgust into themed one-hour specials. His first themed special, Money Never Wakes, was a hilarious diatribe about money, those who have it, those who need it, and everything in between.
His latest hour-long rant, Down with Tech, was about — you guessed it — tech and the positive and (mostly) negative effects it’s having on us as individuals and as a society.
Both those specials are available on YouTube right now. So, what’s Nathan going to go off on next? You’ll get a chance to see when he headlines Rumor’s from October 29th to November 2nd.
