There are a ton of Winnipeg comedians on TV right now, like Paul Rabliauskas, Aisha Alfa, and Jordan Welwood. And the list just keeps growing.
Winnipeg is a funny place. Comedians get to hone their craft in relative obscurity due to the city’s isolated nature. And then suddenly they emerge, fully formed and ready for the screen.
Rumor’s Comedy Club, the longest serving comedy club in Winnipeg, has compiled this comprehensive list of comedians from Winnipeg that you can find on television. So, grab some popcorn and fire up the TV, because you’ve got a lot to watch.
Winnipeg comedians on TV
For many comedians, the goal is to get so funny that you get to be on television. Here, now, is a list of comics from Winnipeg currently starring on television.
Paul Rabliauskas
Hailing from Poplar River First Nation, Paul Rabliauskas is the biggest success from Winnipeg’s incredible comedy scene.
In 2020, Paul appeared on the Just For Laughs New Faces series, and the following year he recorded his 30 minute stand-up comedy special, Uncle. That special can be streamed on Crave.
Following that, Paul’s original television series, Acting Good was picked up by CTV/Crave. The series is based on his life back on his reserve. The names of people and places have been changed, but the honesty and hilarity remain. Acting Good season 2 has just completed production and will begin airing in September 2023.

Jordan Welwood
The quick-witted Jordan Welwood has made a name for himself on the Winnipeg comedy scene, and now his going national with his appearance on season 3 of Roast Battle Canada. In this series Welwood goes head-to-head with some of the biggest names in Canadian comedy trading barbs at a hilariously break-neck speed.
Aisha Alfa
Comedian, actor, soccer player — Aisha Alfa can do anything she puts her mind to. And recently she’s put her mind to acting.
Alfa has appeared on many TV series including Degrassi: The Next Generation, The Beaverton, and Criminal Minds. Now, the Winnipeg-born comedian portrays Carolyn in the new dark comedy series Based on a True Story, streaming on Peacock and starring Big Bang’s Kaley Cuoco.
Chad Anderson
A rising star on the national stand-up comedy circuit, Chad Anderson has recorded a television gala for the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, which can be streamed on the CBC Gem app.
Later this year, Chad will head to Toronto where he will represent Winnipeg in the up-coming season 4 of Roast Battle Canada.
Mike Green
Mike Green is a hustler’s hustler. Last year the Winnipeg comedian poduced his own stand-up competition series called Comedy Battle Royale (FibeTV), which pits teams of comedians against one another in an off-the-cuff fight to the last laugh. The show features Green as host and a dozen other local Winnipeg comedians battling it out, including Tyler Kotowski, Jaydin Pommer, and Benji Rothman, to name just a few.
Green has also recorded sets for Just For Laughs New Faces which can be found on Crave.
Angie St. Mars
One of the more unique television appearances from a Winnipeg comedian has got to be Angie St. Mars’ role as host of the spooky cooking show, Ghost Kitchens, the first cooking competition judged by ghosts. Three Winnipeg chefs battle it out in this one-of-a-kind reality show streaming now on FibeTV.
Ben Beauchemin
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Ben Beauchemin got his acting start right here in the 204, including a recurring role on the Winnipeg-based HBO Canada series, Less Than Kind. Since then, Beauchemin has moved to Toronto, starring in the hit CBC sitcom, Kim’s Convenience.
Garrett Jamieson
This Winnipeg expat has been all over your television, from one-off appearances on shows like Murdoch Mysteries and Burden of Truth, to Subway commercials, to his most recent appearance on season 3 of Roast Battle Canada streaming now on Crave and airing on CTV Comedy. (That makes three Winnipeggers involved in season three of that show, along with Jordan Welwood and Paul Rabliauskas).
You can also find Garrett Jamieson on the Banger Films webseries, Heavy Metal Hitchhiker, which is loosely based on Jamieson’s time as a roadie for Winnipeg metal legends, KEN Mode.
Kyle McCulloch
While Kyle McCulloch does make the occasional appearance infront of the camera, his most notable work is behind the scenes. McCulloch was a staff writer for South Park from 1999 to 2008, and he is responsible for the conception of all the Canadian characters on the series. He was a staff writer for the short-lived sitcom spoof, That’s My Bush, a brilliant Trey Parker/Matt Stone project featuring then-President of the United States, George W. Bush as a hapless sitcom husband.
In addition to that already impressive resume, McCulloch has served three tours of duty as a writer for Sponge Bob Square Pants — including a stretch as head writer — and as a staff writer for Maria Bamford’s Netflix series, Lady Dynamite.
