Things to Do in Winnipeg This Weekend
What’s on in Winnipeg this weekend, you ask? There’s tons of stuff from free family events to ticketed evening shows. These are the best of the best Winnipeg weekend activities:
A-MAZE-D
Saturday & Sunday
9AM – 4:30PM @ The Manitoba Children’s Museum
If you have kids, take them down to the Children’s Museum located at The Forks. There you’ll find an original maze specially designed for the Children’s Museum composed entirely of cardboard boxes. This interactive installation is super fun and it promotes creative thinking and problem solving skills.
David Nihill
Friday & Saturday
7:15PM & 9:45PM @ Rumor’s Comedy Club

Irish comedian David Nihill is in Winnipeg this weekend with his affable fish-out-of-water style of stand-up comedy. Nihill is well-travelled, and uses his experiences abroad to hold up a mirror to society through which his audiences can’t help but laugh at themselves.
His razor-sharp wit and spot-on observations helped David win the 2018 San Francisco Comedy Competition, which laid the groundwork for his 2019 Dry Bar comedy special entitled Documented. Recently, David released his second full-length special, Cultural Appreciation, on YouTube earning nearly 700K views in just two months. But, if you want to hear what David’s working on now, you’ll have to buy tickets to see him live this weekend.
Prairie Dog Central
Saturday & Sunday
11AM – 2:45PM @ Inkster Junction Station

On Saturday you can take a ride to Grosse Isle on the Prairie Dog Central railway. You’ll ride on the railway’s diesel locomotive, and you’ll get a tour of an 1886 homestead, a single room schoolhouse and the towns old-time church.
Then on Sunday you can take part in the Prairie Dog Central’s Great Train Robbery - Cowboys ‘n Gals. The railway’s steam locomotive makes it’s way to Grosse Isle at 11:00AM and, while they always hope for a smooth ride, sometime the train is boarded by cowboys and cowgirls on horseback looking for a quick buck.
pe-kiyoke Creative Arts Festival
Sunday

Doggie Days of Summer
Saturday & Sunday
10AM &12:15PM @ Bruce Park

If your dogs are barkin’ bring ‘em down to the Bruce Park Wading Pool. As the summer winds down, the city is opening its splash pads to our four-legged friends before they shut down for the fall. The 10AM slot is for dogs under 30lbs, and the 12:15 slot is for dogs over 30lbs. If your dog is exactly 30lbs., who knows?
