So, if you’re looking for some fun things to do in Winnipeg this weekend, read-on.

Snow maze

This weekend is opening weekend at the world’s largest snow maze. Every winter, A Maze in Corn transforms into a winter wonderland complete with snow maze, snow sculptures, snow buildings, bonfires, and refreshments. There’s hot chocolate for the kids, and adult drinks for, well, adults. The St. Adolphe landmark has held the Guinness World Record for largest snow maze since 2019.

Wacky Doodle Dance Party for kids

Cut a rug with your rugrats at the Wacky Doodle Dance Party happening this Sunday at the Goodwill Social Club. Parents and partners K-Chedda and DJ Co-op spin danceable tracks for kids, and kid-centric instrumental synth rock band, We’re Only Here for the Snacks, rock out for an afternoon of good tunes and good times for the whole family.

Doors open at 2 P.M. at 625 Portage Avenue.

Game Day

Spark your child’s interest in sports at Game Day, presented by Qualico. With over 20 sports showcased, you and your child can test your hand at your new favorite games. This event is free and accessible, and open to all skill levels. With any luck your child will fall in love with the most expensive sport, and you’ll have to pay registration fees and get up at 5 A.M. on the weekend for the next decade.

Game Day goes down at 145 Pacific Ave. on Saturday, January 27 from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M.

Poli POP @ MTYP

Introduce your child to the arts at Poli POP, presented by the Manitoba Theatre for Young People. Poli POP follows Poli and Pola, two siblings who are having trouble falling asleep. Using their imaginations they venture off to far away lands, but soon find that they have to defeat an alien monster in order to return home safely.

Poli POP is recommended for children 3TK8, and tickets cost. There are 4 P.M. showings on both Saturday and Sunday, and a 1 P.M. show on Sunday as well.

Drag Werkshop with Vida Lamour Decosmo

Winnipeg drag icon Vida Lamour Decosmo leads a drag workshop, sharing her knowledge and know-how to help young and up-and-coming drag performers slay. Vida is a member of the Bannock Babes Indigenous Drag Collective, and strives to knock down barriers for rural and indigenous drag performers.

Vida’s Drag Werkshop is happening at Centre Culturel Franco Manitobain, 340 Prevencher Blvd. on Saturday from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M.

Mukluk making workshop

Artist Gloria Beckman leads this four-session mukluk making workshop, where you’ll learn to create your own beaded, fur-trimmed footwear. Gloria’s workshop takes place at the Manitoba Museum and will run from 11 A.M. to  4 P.M. for four Sundays, beginning January 28th  and ending February 25th. The workshop costs $315 and includes all the supplies you’ll need to make your mukluks, but you are welcome to bring your own materials as well.

The Manitoba Outdoors Show

Outdoors enthusiasts are hearing the call of the wild this weekend at the Manitoba Outdoors Show. The annual trade show features kiosks and presentations on various Manitoba outdoor activities from paddle boarding, to fishing, to hunting, and more.

The Manitoba Outdoors Show happens at the Red River Exhibition Place this weekend from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. on Saturday, and 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. on Sunday.
