Rumor's Comedy Club Favorites Headline The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival is right around the corner and this year Rumor’s Comedy Club is a proud partner in the festivities.

The Great Outdoors Fest features some of the biggest names in comedy — we’re talking comics who fill arenas and legitimate movie stars.

In fact, some of those big names have headlined Rumor’s back when they weren’t quite as big.

Here’s a look at some of the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival performers who have headlined the great indoors — Rumor’s!

Nate Bargatze

Sometimes he’s the smartest guy in the room, and sometimes he’s the simplest, but no matter what side of the situation Nate Bargatze finds himself in, his deadpan delivery makes it clear that he knows exactly where he stands in every situation.

Bargatze’s story-telling style mixed with some southern charm have made him one of the top names in stand-up comedy. But before he was playing arenas and headlining major comedy festivals, Nate brought his sneaky-clean act right here to Rumor’s.

Want proof? Here’s a clip of Nate on the Rumor’s Comedy Cast way back in 2015:

Now, he’s coming back to Winnipeg on July 21st along with Gerry Dee and future Rumor’s headliner, Derek Stroup.

Tom Segura

If you like your comedy dark and edgy, then you’ll love Tom Segura.

Segura uses his story-telling style to peel back the layers of the culture that we live in, adding a splash of sarcasm and a healthy dose of irony. His podcasts, Your Mom’s House, and Two Bears One Cave are some of the highest rated comedy podcasts out there, and comedy specials are revered by fans and comics alike.

But, before he was a comedy superstar, Tom was doing his thing in clubs across North America, including Winnipeg’s best comedy club — Rumor’s! And when he was in town, he made an appearance on a local public access comedy show called The Week Thus Far. Check it out:

Tom makes his return to Winnipeg as part of the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival on Friday, July 19th. Holy moly! Tom Segura, Nate Bargatze, and Bill Burr? Winnipeg is pretty lucky.

Andrew Schulz

The undisputed king of social media, Andrew Schulz is scheduled for the Edmonton edition of the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival on July 12th.

Hezzy is known for his hustle, and when the world was shutting down due to COVID-19, Andrew Schulz turned it up a notch, releasing poignant and well-written rants on Instagram, eventually leading to his own three-part Netflix series called Schulz Saves America.

But, before he became internet famous, Andrew Schulz headlined Rumor’s. Here’s a clip from the Rumor’s Comedy Cast in 2015:

Steph Tolev

Filthy and unashamed is the best way to describe Steph Tolev’s brand of acerbic comedy.

The Canadian expat’s profile has been skyrocketing over the past few years, making her Netflix debut in 2020 and touring with stand-up comedy heavyweight, Bill Burr.

Steph has headlined Rumor’s a couple times, most recently in March of this year. We were lucky to have her then, and we’re hoping she comes back real soon.

Maddy Smith

She’s a maladjusted millennial with a rapid-fire style that keeps the audience in stitches from start to finish. Maddy is like an out-of-control machine gun — nobody is safe, not even herself.

Maddy will be performing in the Vancouver edition of the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival, and in October she’ll be headlining Rumor’s. Get tickets while you can, ‘cause we think that Maddy is about to blow up.

Derek Stroup

Nate Bargatze fans will love the edgy southern vibe of Derek Stroup. He’s like if Nate Bargatze and Louis Black had a long lost son. Sure, he’s made some bad decisions, but he can assure you he made them for good reasons.

If you miss Derek Stroup opening for Nate Bargatze at the Winnipeg Great Outdoors Comedy Festival, you can catch him headlining Rumor’s from October 8th –12th.

Live stand-up comedy in Winnipeg all year long

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival will be going down in Winnipeg from July 19th – 21st, and will feature two of the best comedians in Winnipeg — Jordan Welwood and Benji Rothman.

But, if you want to experience live stand-up comedy in Winnipeg the rest of the year, Rumor’s Comedy Club is the place to be. We’ve got the best touring headliners in the game delivering seven hilarious shows per week.
