Fun and Easy Winnipeg Holiday Party Ideas

Putting together a holiday party for your staff can be a tedious task. Renting a hall, organizing food, obtaining liquor licenses, and arranging prizes and entertainment is a full-time job in itself!

Lucky for you Rumor’s Comedy Club — the best comedy club in Winnipeg — has compiled this list of easy and fun ideas for your Winnipeg office holiday party.

So, deck the hall with balls of holly, because it’s time to start organizing your Winnipeg office holiday party.

Comedy Show

The holidays are about spreading joy, and what better way to do that than with a comedy show?

You can hire a comedian to visit your work party, but you’ll still need to organize a time and a space to have the event. And if you want to have food and beverages, you’ll need to make those arrangements, too.

Or, you can call us at Rumor’s Comedy Club, and book your group in for one of our hilarious headliners. We have a full dinner menu, and an extensive drink menu including several non-alcoholic options. No need to obtain food and liquor licenses, we’re a licensed establishment!

Whichever option you choose, Rumor’s can help. So, give us a call at 204-488-4520 and let us know if you’re looking to hire a comedian for your Winnipeg holiday party, or if you want to reserve some tickets for your organization for one of our incredible club shows.

Potluck and Game Day

Some businesses choose to have their holiday get-together at work during work hours. One of the best in-office holiday party plans is the potluck and game day party.

The potluck part is pretty self-explanatory — just make a big batch of your signature dish and bring it for everybody at the office to share.

As for the games, there’s no end to your options. Here are some of our favorites:

The Elf Twerk: Competitors strap on a kleenex box filled with ping-pong balls and twerk until their box is empty. Winner gets a prize!

Balloon Stomp: Everybody starts with a balloon tied to their ankle. The objective is to pop everyone else’s balloon with your feet. The last person standing wins.

Office Trivia: Provide answer sheets to all of your staff, then read out brain stumping questions. They can be work related, holiday themed, or just regular general knowledge. It’s up to you!

Candy Cane Fishing: Tie a long string with an upside down candy cane around the contestant’s neck. Then, without using their hands, the contestant must use the candy cane to pull other candy canes from a cup and place them into a bin. First one to empty their cup, wins!

Christmas Emoji Game: Give each player a sheet with emojis that make a word or phrase. Whoever guesses the most, wins!

Gift Exchange

The Gift Exchange is a time-honored tradition at office holiday parties. There are a few different ways you can organize your gift exchange:

Secret Santa: This is the classic gift exchange model where, a few weeks before the holidays, everybody’s name is put in a hat. The hat is passed around the office, and you buy a small gift for the person whose name you’ve drawn. And you can’t tell them who bought it for them — hence Secret Santa.

White Elephant: In this model, all gifts are put into a pile and everybody draws a number from a jar. The person with the lowest number gets to select and unwrap their gift first. Then the next person can either select and unwrap a new gift, or steal a previous person’s gift. If a person has their gift stolen, then they may select and unwrap a new gift.

Candle Gift Selector: Place several lit tea lights in a line. Beside each tea light is a number that corresponds to a gift. Each player stands at one end of the tealights and attempts to blow them out. The number next to the farthest extinguished tealight is that person’s gift.

It’s up to you what price limit you put on the gifts, but we suggest keeping it under $50, to keep the game fun and to make it affordable for everybody.
