Best Comedy Clubs in Canada
Canada is a hilarious country, coast to coast, and we here at Rumor’s are very proud to be one of the premier comedy clubs in the nation. If you’re in Winnipeg and you’re looking for some laughs, Rumor’s is the place to be.
But what if you’re visiting another city? No worries! Rumor’s has you covered, because this week we’re listing the best comedy clubs across Canada, starting with:
Victoria, BC - Hecklers

Victoria may be one of the smaller cities in Canada, but the city’s sense of humor is world-class. Because of that, Hecklers Bar & Grill has a great reputation among comedians and comedy fans alike.
While Hecklers is currently only staging one show per week (Saturdays), the talent is top-end with some of the country’s top touring comics like Chris Griffin and Aaron Read playing to raucous crowds.
Vancouver, BC - Comedy After Dark

After the demise of Vancouver’s legendary Comedy Mix, things were looking bleak for the stand-up scene in the 604. Luckily Vancouver still has Comedy After Dark, a comedy club and restaurant serving up high-quality laughs nightly from Wednesday to Sunday.
This is a seriously bumpin’ club with heavy hitters like Paul Myrehaug headlining all week, and late night Amateur hour shows to satisfy your masochistic curiosities.
Edmonton - The Comic Strip

With six pro headliner shows per week, Rick Bronson’s Comic Strip is the top comedy club in the YEG. Located in the world-famous West Edmonton Mall, The Comic Strip treats Edmontonians to some of the best touring comedians in the game.
Rick also owns a comedy club in another huge mall — Rick Bronson’s House of Comedy in Bloomington Minnesota’s Mall of America.
Calgary - The Laugh Shop

We LOVE The Laugh Shop in Calgary! They have the perfect mix of touring headliners like Brittany Lyseng, and big name concert performers like Jay Pharoah. It’s an extremely well run club, and that’s why we send the winner of the Winnipeg’s Funniest Person with a Day Job contest to perform for an evening at the Laugh Shop in Calgary.
Lethbridge - Good Times

With a weekly amateur night and bona fide headliners on Fridays and Saturdays, Good Times is your best bet for a great time in Lethbridge. The club is run by up-and-coming Canadian comedian (and former Rumor’s headliner) Faris Hytiaa, and features many of Western Canada’s best emerging talent.
Saskatoon - N/A
Myles Morrison is a regular on CBC's The Debaters
There’s no full-time comedy club in the Saskatchewan capital, but there are quite a few independent shows that are worth checking out, particularly Laugh on Mars at Better Bros. Brewing Co. This weekly stand-up showcase is run by one of our favorite Prairie comics and recent Rumor’s headliner, Myles Morrison, so it’s a guaranteed hilarious time.
Toronto - Comedy Bar

This is one of the most unique comedy clubs in the country — a DIY comedy club for comedians by comedians. The original Bloor Street location has two rooms with a rotating line up of weekly and monthly stand-up showcases, open mics, pro-headliners, and specialty shows. On any given night you can see the biggest names in Toronto comedy take the stage and then celebrate a great set in the bar room with their hilarious pals.
Comedy Bar has been so successful that they’ve opened a second location in the city’s Danforth area.
Ottawa - Absolute Comedy

Absolute Comedy is quite possibly the best run comedy club in the entire country. They have shows seven nights a week, and the energy is electric no matter what night you show up on. This club has such a great reputation among comedians that many choose to record their comedy albums at Absolute Comedy Ottawa.
Montreal - Comedy Nest

Located in downtown Montreal, the Comedy Nest is the funniest club in the funniest city in all of Canada. Every show is a cavalcade of hilarity with incredible locals mixing with seasoned pros that you’ve probably seen on the Tonight Show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Comedy Central, and Conan.
Halifax - N/A
Clare Belford has toured all over Canada and the US
Canada’s east coast is renowned for its comedy pedigree — This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Royal Canadian Air Farce both came from that part of the country, and are both well known names in Canadian comedy. But, there’s not a ton of comedy clubs in the area.
There are, however, a lot of great comics and a lot of great one-nighters that you can catch if you’re in the region. We highly suggest Better Times which goes down every Thursday at Good Robot, and is co-hosted by Clare Belford who headlined Rumor’s back in May.
Best Comedy Club in Winnipeg
Norm MacDonald himself called Rumor’s the “best comedy club in the country”. Hey, we’ll take it!
So why not come down to Rumor’s and see what Norm was talking about.
Rumor’s is the only comedy club in Winnipeg that runs seven shows per week. We’re constantly bringing in big name headliners, like Tom Green and Jay Pharoah, and our locally-based emcees are some of the best comedians in Winnipeg.
We have a full dinner menu, and our drink list is extensive and features several non-alcoholic beer options.
